Hi there,

Sorry to hear about this trouble. I agree with the suggestions shared above. This generally happens due to the conflicts with other applications. Please try booting the system into Safe Mode (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-your-pc-in-safe-mode-in-windows-10-92c27cff-db89-8644-1ce4-b3e5e56fe234) and check how it works there. It starts your system so that it performs certain checks and prevents third party software/ services from automatically loading or opening. If it works fine in Safe mode, then there is some third party service or application like antivirus, plugins or web extensions which are conflicting with the InDesign.

If that doesn't help, please try the suggestions shared on this page (https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/resolve-slow-performance-and-unexpected-behavior-of-indesign...) and let us know how it goes.

Feel free to let us know if you still need assistance. We'd be happy to help.

Regards,

Sometimes other applications will interfere with the Adobe keyboard shortcuts. Try rebooting your computer and only open up InDesign or illustrator and try it again. Is the shortcut working again?

Which posted suggestions have you tried? Also, it might help if you post your versions of InDesign, Illustrator and what OS you are using. And this last one is a Hail-Mary, but newer Macs that have the new M1 processor don't run InDesign all that well, and since I don't use Windows, I can't say if there is a similar hardware reason, but I thought I'd throw it out there for the PC users here.
