Greetings,

I have a single P65 file from 1998 that I need to convert to some other current format--PDF or Word.

How can I get that done?

Thank you,

Brett

Yes, of course, if the task is just to get a PDF of the file as it currenty exists, you can't do any better than opening it in PageMaker and exporting from there. Yes, InDesign conversion is only a partway solution, there's always reworking to do, but if your goal is to go forward in InDesign, then that's a decent necessary evil to deal with; You are much further to the goal than rebuilding from scratch.

In any case, I've already processed @brettb22621128 's file and have sent them back.

InDesign CS6 can't help you fully. Many of files, even all won't be as author created. You do need to do a virtual machine or find old PC with win98 and installed PageMaker.

Remember, never say you can't do something in InDesign, it's always just a question of finding the right workaround to get the job done. © David Blatner

Hi

.p65 is PageMaker. Do you have a copy of the application?

Hi,

No, I have Arobat, but neither PageMaker nor InDesign.  I tried contacting tech support to see if the trial version of InDesign would solve this but it is a challenge to actually reach them. So I reached out to the community.

If you have a computer that can run it, the CS6 InDesign Trial installer (available at prodesigntools) will give you enough time to convert files. If you have an active CC subscription, you may even be able to activate it by selecting "Start subscription" when you first start up.

If you are up against a wall with that, I can PDF/convert for you.

Either have a computer with PageMaker 6.5 and from there print to PDF. Or open it in InDesign up to CS6, and convert it from there to PDF.
