Packaging a Book Duplicates Links Files

I'm packaging a book file that has the same image placed in all of the documents. It is duplicating and renaming the links for each document. How do I get it to just save one version of the linked file and use the same file for all documents?

Unfortunately, this is known behaviour and InDesign book features have not been updated in over 15 years (as far as I know I may be wrong).
