Question

Packaging Fails on macOS Tahoe When Images Are Linked from Synology NAS

Since upgrading to Tahoe I can no longer package a file when images are located on a Synology NAS. If I move the images to local it works but when the document contains multiple images this isn’t an easy solution. Is there a solution?

    Hi @FlairCreative,

Thank you for the update and for confirming the behavior between the older and newer NAS devices.

This is a known issue on macOS Tahoe when packaging files with links located on certain SMB network volumes, including some Synology NAS setups. A bug has already been logged for this, and the product team is actively working on a fix.

You can refer to a similar community discussion here:

There is also a corresponding UserVoice request here:

I’d recommend upvoting the UserVoice entry and adding your comments there so you can receive updates directly as progress is made.

I’ll also keep you posted here as soon as I have any further updates from the team.

Update: It seems the newer NAS is fine but the older one is the one having issues but the settings look identical?

No, It’s not your NAS. It’s Adobe. The bug is there since the release of Tahoe an we are waiting for a fix DESERATLY because being able to pack is acrucial step of our workflow.
We opened several tickets and were told Adobe is working on it and they will let us know when it's fixed. However, all those tickets have been closed by Adobe and I am tired of opening them again.

@VectorWizard You can install macOS Sequoia on a different volume (as well as anything else you need to install) and work from there until the issue with Tahoe is solved. This will allow you to package from both InDesign and Illustrator with no issues (as I see from your posts that Illustrator has the same problem on Tahoe).

If you have to use Tahoe for some reason, then for InDesign I can suggest InPreflight which has its own packaging engine and thus shouldn’t be affected by issues of InDesign: https://zevrix.com/inpreflight (disclosure: I’m the developer).
