Page links in table of contents not working in publish online

I have my table of contents set up to link to sections in my document. This works find when I publish to PDF, but the links do not work when I use the publish online feature. 


Any suggestions?

    Should not be a problem in Publish Online. Can you share the .indd file, don't need images.

    Just one little thing, can you check that the World-Ready composer is not applied to the TOC text? There was a bug with that and hyperlinks, that was supposed to have been fixed.

    The Table of Contents does not work properly when I publish online from InDesign. It works perfectly as a pdf, but in the online version when I click on an item in the TOC it takes me to a garbled page with some hints of the proper content  but virtually nothing there. I'm not using World Ready composer and I have "Make text anchor in source paragraph"  checked in my TOC setup.  InDesign v19.4 x64 on Windows 10

    I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're facing with your Table of Contents after publishing online. It sounds incredibly frustrating, especially since it works perfectly as a PDF. To help us diagnose and resolve this problem, could you please package and share the InDesign file along with the linked files and fonts?

     

    Additionally, if possible, could you provide a small recording demonstrating the issue? This will give us a clearer picture of what's going wrong and how we might fix it. Thank you!

    Thanks for your offer of help. I realise now thay even if the TOC problem
    was solved, the publish online option would be no good for us because we
    couldn't embed all the code in our website and so would be relying on Adobe
    to go on hosting the content. We can't afford to subscribe to InDesign
    perpetually and I assume there would be a limit to how long Adobe would
    host the content.

    Further, using the in5 plugin I find the TOC works very well and all the
    html code generated resides on my computer.

    Two important questions:

    1. Why doesn't the "save as html" in Adobe InDesign (or Adobe Acrobat) work
    as well as the Publish online in terms of retaining the complex formatting
    of my booklet? Surely the results should be the same for either option. Is
    Adobe deliberately withholding capability from the "save as html" option
    for some reason?

    2. Why do I have to pay the subscription for a plugin to get the job done
    properly. Adobe is a major global brand but can't seem to offer the
    capability of a private plug in. I can only assume this is a deliberate act
    on the part of Adobe.

    A further bug in Adobe Publish Online: Some of my image filenames had
    unusual characters such as brackets and commas. Those images didn't display
    in the Publish Online output but did display in the thumbnails. I fixed the
    problem by modifying the filenames after a long investigation, no help from
    the Help facility.

    Table of Contents, when automatically generated using the Table of Contents feature, should work just fine in Publish Online. Can you check that "Make text anchor in source paragraph" is checked on in your TOC setup?

    That is checked in the ToC contents. I've attached an image of the published ToC, you can see the cursor does not turn into a hand cursor. There are no links. These text links work fine in an exported PDF.
