Page master items won't update margins and columns [branched]

I'm having a similar issue with updating the margins and columns.
I apply the changes on the master pages but they refuse to iterate on the pages with the master applied.

Yes, I can do it by selecting all the pages and using apply master to pages but logically, it doesn't make sense does it?

Surely, the whole point of master pages is to be able to globally control the layout and common elements on the pages that inherit its properties.

I'm maybe missing something but I hate stuff like this, it makes my brain hurt.
