Page numbering

I've used automatic page numbering on my master pages for a 160-page book (text, insert special character, markers, current page number). Everything worked great. But after I changed two of my three master pages, some of the book pages now show two page numbers in different fonts. I'm guessing that I have somehow added two master page styles to certain pages, but I don't know if that's even possible.

Suggestions for fixing this would be greatly appreciated!

I suspect that SJRiegel is steering you right; if you Command/Control+Shift+click (on Mac/Windows systems, respectively) on a master page element, you bring it onto your page as its own discrete item, independent of the master page items. Apply a new master page to the document page, or re-apply the existing one, and you get two page numbers.

The good news is that this should be easy to fix:

1) Get your Selection/Arrow tool.

2) Click in the area where you have two page numbers. This will select the element you brought onto your document page from the master page items. Elements from the master page won't be selected unless you use the Command/Control+Shift modifier keys.

3) Press the Delete key. Independent item floating on the page will disappear and the master page item will remain.

Hopefully, this will eliminate your problem.

Hope this helps,

Randy

Did you override master page items on those pages? Any overridden items on the page will remain when a new master page is applied.
