Page tool

Having skipped several upgrades, I went straiught from CS4 to Adobe InDesign 2020 and find myself struggling with the Page Tool. Working on a 6pp 1/3 A4 leaflet where an outside page folds in and therefore has to be about 2mm narrower, the Page Tool is the ideal solution. However when I select the page handles for that page, all the rest of the pages reduce in matching width at the same time so what am I doing wrong?

Any help wpould be appreciated.

Michael

With the three panels on your A4 leaflet, make sure you only have the panel you want to modify chosen the Pages panel. Then the handles and the Control panel controls will only affect the selected panel (page). I find it more accurate to enter the panel (page) width in the Control panel with the Page tool.

Update: following a reboot of my Mac this morning and after relaunching Id, the Page Tool is now working as the God of DTP and Adobe intended – just one of those glitches I suppose. Thanks for your help.

Here's a video on InDesignSecrets.com which shows how to it:

I have selected the target page in my 3-page spread - well at least I think I have. It seems so automatic, after all these years using Id on a Mac, that I've never really thought about how you actually select single pages. Maybe I need to go back to basics, but I've always just double-clicked a page in the pages panel. Isn't that how to do it?
