Paragraph and line spacing issues.

I'm importing a word document to format a paperback for amazon. Whenever I set the line and paragraph spacing, it only applies to most of the file. In random spots the paragraph spacing will be larger. In other random spots the line spacing will be larger. But when I hightlight the text it shows that it's set properly, and it won't change no matter what I do.

I tried clearing overrides but it only helps a little. There are still random spots with huge gaps between lines and paragraphs. I also tried to just copy and paste everything. Same problems just in different areas.

I included some pics showing both issues.

Thanks in advance for any help.

First, go to preferences > text and tick the “ apply leading to whole paragraph” (or someting similar, I use a french version). Second, use paragraph styles to ensure that all is formatted the same way.

Actually. I figured out that all I have to do is delete the text and rewrite it, and it comes out the way it's supposed to be. Thanks so much for the help. I've been stuck for hours.

Could you post screenshots showing hidden characters?
