Paragraph Style changes text to Blue, underlined? Wha—???

All of a sudden, when I change the style of selected tect in the Paragraph Style window it changes the text to the correct style, but the color is changed to Blue and it is underlined. I can then manually change the color back to what it's supposed to be (usually black) and kill the underlining, but this severely slows down production time over the long term and is very annoying. What is going on?!?

I suspect you unknowingly have the hyperlink Character Style applied.

Thanks for your help, but this doesn't seem to be it. I may try recreating the Paragraph Styles from scratch and hope the problem isn't repeated.

You have underline on.

It sounds like a Style override indicator - a useful facility but it can be turned off. A screen shot would help.

Check if there not a character style applied on your text.

There is always a style applied. My problem is that when I select one of the other Paragraph Styles items to change it the text goes Blue and underlined. I have examined each of the style definitions and changing the color to Blue and underlining it is not in there. I can't figure this out.

As I wrote in my first answer, there is actually a character style (named hyperlink): we can see that in your screenshot.
