Question

Parent page applied to a page is not modifying the elements

Hello, I just started learning InDesign and I am stuck. The video of the instructor shows how he has created a new Parent Page, with 2 columns and other details. He then applies the parent page by dragging it to one of the pages. This one has just 1 column of text. Thanks to the Parent Page, the text elements is then modified and now displays 2 columns, has it should.

However...

When I try to practice and literally do the same in his document, tranforming from 2 columns to 3 columns, I see the Parent Page grids of my 3 columns being displaced in the page that I am trying to modify, but the text/elements stays the same!

Is it me? is it my computer? Why does it work on him and not me?

I don't know what else to do, please help.

This sounds like your text is in a frame on the document page that is not linked to the parent. If you hide the text frame in the layers panel, then make your change on the Parent page do you see it reflected on the document page?

@breeamerlinck May I suggest instead of 'applies the parent page by dragging it to one of the pages' you can select the page that you want the 'parent page' styling applied to that new page. For example, if you add another page to your document as a test, select that page, right-click and 'Apply Parent to Pages,' and select which 'Parent Page' you want to apply and that page will be exactly like that parent page

I can´t, it´s a domestika class. But it´s literally what I just said, that when you drag, the parent page is not affecting the elements
