Hello

How can I apply a pattern in an object in indesign.

I know that swatches do not have pattens in indesign.

Thanks

You can't do it without a third party product like this:

PatternMaker - Custom Backgrounds and Borders for Adobe InDesign

Otherwise, create your pattern in Adobe Illustrator and place it as a graphic.

What kind of object? If imported, you hardly can do something worth of noticing. If native, without using third party tools you can: 1) achieve some kind of a noise pattern using Objects > Effects, or 2) use that object as a container (shape) for your pattern (most likely - some imported object). Copy pattern to clipboard, select your shape (ID native object, but not line or live text), Edit > Paste Into.

Sure, it’s much wiser to do things of this kind in Photoshop or Illustrator.
