Question

PDF Form Image Field not working once exported

I have created a request form and made a image field on the last page for users to include examples or templates. When exporting and opening in Acrobat I can use this field but when opening via browser (which most if not all users will do) it is unresponsive. Is there a way around this or a reason for this.

Importing an image in a PDF button requires the use of JavaScript, which is not supported by most browsers because they only partially support the PDF specifications.

However, would you expect an HTML file containing JavaScript to run correctly in a PDF reader?

Interactive PDFs are nothing but an unreliable crapshoot and that's even if you use Acrobat or Reader. Beyond that, I will only note that when you export you are choosing Adobe PDF. That should tell you what you need to know.

My ongoing advice is to give up on any Interactive PDF if you cannot control the application that will open it. Use a google form or create a form for the website.

Thank you. I thought this would be the case and didn't have much hope for a solution. 👍

Well, I gave you the solution. It just doesn't involve using InDesign or PDF for that matter.
