PDF mailto button opens browser

Hi, I couldn't find an answer to this problem in the past posts. I have an email button in my document that when clicked on in the PDF, opens the browser. I've tried setting this action using the hyperlinks panel link to email as well as adding an on click event in the buttons and forms panel instead. I'm on a Mac using InDesign 2024 and Acrobat Pro. Can anyone please assist?

My advice is to forget it. Mailto is an absolutely horrible user experience that requires a default email application to be installed or the user is going to get prompted for what they want to use. Edit: What you're seeing is not necessarily what others will see as far as this behavior.

If you need to collect feedback, add a link to a google form and be done with it.

Can you post contents of your link?

Have you tried on other machines? It's possible that you've set it up that way on your machine.

Thanks Robert. From Bob's reply, it seems best to remove the link
