Question

PDF submit button (created from InDesign) not working on iPhone

Hello, I'm creating a 5 page document in InDesign with interactivity (check buttons, "next page" buttons, live text field, SUBMIT (to an email), etc. I'm exporting as interactive and all buttons and the text field are working on the iPhone (which I'm using to test) EXCEPT for the SUBMIT button. This one gives me no action.

I'm needing to design and distribute this live PDF to clients. They will make one selection and then submit the form back via email, which collects the date inputted. Everything is working fine in Acrobat/Reader but I can't for the life of me figure out why I get no action on the mobile device. It does work in my Acrobat Reader app but I can't expect my end users to download that, then save the PDF to their phone, then open it into the Reader app. I'll lose them in the process.

I'm running InDesign CC 2019.

Any help appreciated!

- Michael

BTW, you might want to give this a quick read. I wrote it a couple of years ago, but nothing much has changed.

Interactive PDF, beyond use on desktops with Acrobat and Acrobat Reader is nothing short of a crapshoot. Mobile devices are even worse.

I’m sorry, but if it works in Acrobat then you’ll need to report it to Apple.
