Petty glitches

I don't classify these as true problems that impact my productivity or ability to deliver product, but they are things that I have never experienced before (despite profile status I have been using for many years). Reasonably certain this has occured on two different machines so I am not inclined to think its anything to do with corrupt preferences etc. The most persistent issue would be the dialog box labeled "Open 1 Documents" that won't disappear despite no documents being open. Sometimes I can get it to disappear by reopening the document that I just closed, (opening a document is what causes this dialog box to pop up sometimes). A number of times this has occured prior to getting the "serious error" shutdown. I am also gettng the scrambled text that has been an issue for others per historical posts. I eliminated the possibility that it is due to duplicate text boxes. Often occurs when applying paragraph composer to a specific paragraph. Used to be able to solve text scrambling on my 2017 iMac by disabling GPU performance, but that causes serious slowdowns on a 2024 Mini. Again, not a big problem but just wondering if there is a common thread to the various petty issues.

 Indesign 20.5. 2024 Mini M4. Sequoia 15.6.1.

    Sequoia + M1 here, and I often get the "Open 1 Documents" hanging dialog when opening a file from an .indb tab group. No remedy but a force quit AFAIK.

      Same issue here, M1/Sequoia. I upgraded last week but this bug only started happening today.

      Thanks for laying that out clearly. Even if you don’t consider them major roadblocks, they’re definitely not behaviours you’d expect from InDesign.

       

      That “Open 1 Document” dialog lingering after a close has cropped up for others too it does seem tied to Sequoia/M4 setups rather than corrupt prefs. Reopening the file to dismiss it matches what others have reported. Adobe haven’t logged it as a fix yet, so it may be in that grey zone of OS/hardware compatibility.

       

      The scrambled text issue has been around in various guises for a while. On Intel Macs, disabling GPU performance was the workaround (like you mentioned). On Apple Silicon though, GPU off tends to drag the whole app. Some users have found relief by toggling “Display Performance” to Typical rather than High Quality, though it’s hit or miss.

       

      So while these feel like separate quirks, there might be a common thread with GPU rendering and Sequoia’s graphics handling on the M4. Might be worth flagging all three together on the Adobe bug report form, just so they get logged with your setup specifics.

       

      In the meantime, curious if anyone else on Sequoia + M4 Mini is seeing the same combination of “Open 1 Document” + scrambled text?
