Placed pen tool point moves to the corner of the board, Placed rectangle, ellipse, line is distorted

I have a problem with both my pen, pencil, line and rectangle/ellipse tool.

With the pen tool, any first point I place down automatically gets put into the top corner of the document.

Any line, rectangle, or pencil shape I draw gets stretched and placed on the top section of the document border.

I tried to reset my preferences and that didn't do anything. Is there any fix to this?

Does that happen with all files or with this specific file? Please also share the version of InDesign and the details of the operating system.

Check if you have a default object style that places object in these positions.

I tried to reset my preferences and that didn't do anything.

How did you reset preferences?

Quit InDesign and relaunch it while holding down the Shift, Ctrl and Alt keys [Windows], Shift, Ctrl, Alt and Cmd keys [Mac] until you see a warning message asking for confirmation.
