Plug-ins to protect too many people in open InDesign file?

Hi,

My studio are looking to see if there are any plug-ins you can download to stop more than

1 person being in an indesign file (to stop potential corruptions of the design files).

Looking for something that would restrict the file opening as a read-only.

We hoest all our files on dropbox, is it possible dropbox have a plug in for this, instead CC?

Have looked into InCopy but it doesn't suit our needs as is more for cross-publishing collaboration

rather than purely designers.

Many thanks,

No. It's the one weak spot of Dropbox. Communication is key.

Sounds like everybody wants to open the files at the same time to work on them. Maybe split them into smaller documents to allow multiple people to work on them if they can't wait on each other?

Talk about workflow issues with your team and ask them for advice. It can create a lot of stress for a designer to try to play police with the files, not worth it. Everybody who opens/works on the files take responsability over the files version control.

Hmmm, what about this, script will create a thisIsOpen.txt in the same folder where indd file is. everytime when lock file (indlk i think) will exist, dropbox synch this files too, or?

And another idea, maybe can Autohotkey set atributes to read only, when lock file exist. Just thinking
