Position Images 1.043 errors in InDesign 2026?

I’m trying to use Position Images 1.043 in InDesign 2026, and I feel like its behavior has changed since the last update. It’s hard to describe what exactly is happening because it feels inconsistent, but I’m constantly running into “Error: This value would cause one or more objects to leave the pasteboard” when trying to do “move image only” operations. This is especially problematic for me because I’m trying to position images so that three sides of the image are outside of bleed. My best guess is that something happened with how it’s finding the 0, 0 point or reference point.

Is anyone else having problems with Position Images 1.043 in InDesign 2026? Did 2026 change anything that would cause this?

I think I figured out the problem. There was something weird going on with this particular document that was messing with any script that used measurements, Position Images was just the first one I tried. I think I fixed it be either toggling ruler units from inches to points, then back to inches; or by running a script that ran app.scriptPreferences.measurementUnit = MeasurementUnits.POINTS;.

Also, try to increase your pasteboard size in preferences to its maximum value. In some cases it can eliminate this error.

No, and in situations like this where you are working with a third-party application, your best bet it to ask the developer. I think this is the link you need: https://jans-in-scripts.org/feedback__en.php

In the meantime, you might experiment with the reference point in the proxy. Potentially, changing it will impact the script the way it impacts any mathematical movement in InDesign.
