Previous Page Number from previous spread (define on Master)

Hi,

i want to add a "previous page number" in the header of my master page. All the options with the two connected text-frames wont work, because I want to show the page number from the spread before this one.

It should say "This page shows images from page [number of the right page of the spread coming before this spread]".

Can anyone help?

Maybe not, if the position of the frame is always the same; and I can assume that, because you want to use the frame on a master. And if the frame is on every spread.

The idea:

[1] Leave out the frame in your document altogether

[2] Prepare a new two spread document with facing pages and one single instance of two threaded text frames.

[3] Select the two spreads in the Pages panel and duplicate them. Select the resulting four spreads in the document and duplicate them again. And so on until you reached your maximum number of pages, 300 in your case.

[4] Export that document to pdf with the PDF/X-4 export preset

[5] Place the PDF pages in your original document on a custom layer using the MultiPageImporter script:

Hm. Reread your title…

So my solution above is not a solution in your case.

I think this cannot be done with master pages.

Just with two threaded text frames on document pages.

The document I need to do this with has over 300 pages - probably I have to let go this idea then.

Hi Fine-Peters,

could you show two spreads in the document where you "fake" what you want?

I think this could be still achieved with one single text frame on the master. At least with a facing-pages document.

The trick is: The text frame's center must be on the page you want to address with your auto page number.

I add some screenshots, that show what I want to do.

I am working with Indesign CS6 english version, on Win10.
