Price format and data merge question

I want to create a data merge document that has multiple price inputs. Ideally, the price could be one data field but I don't know how to program it as one style.

Example: $12.59

I want the dollar sign ($) to be superscript, size changed and baseline shifted

The one or two digit dollar amount has it's own character style

The cents amount will need to be superscript and baseline shifted

Is there a way to take an entire data point <<price>> and have it read my character styles for each element. Some of the prices are in cents and will need a cent mark and no dollar sign. I thought there might be a way through GREP.

I've attached a screenshot of how I want the price to look. Can anyone advise?

But if I were you - I would split price into 2 parts - dollars and cents - less extra work for InDesign.

You can use GREP Styles in the applied ParaStyle.

There was a thread about that few days ago - I'll try to find it.
