Print presets don't work right in InDesign CC 2018

I've used InDesign since v2, and have never had so much trouble with print presets until upgrading to CC 2017, and now CC 2018.

I use three printers to output various documents, two at my home (LaserJet and inkjet) and one elsewhere (inkjet. On the top line called Print Preset, I use the name of the printer and the paper size/orientation. The second line says Printer, which is selected from the available printers in the Mac. When the Print Preset is changed to another printer, the Printer line does not change along with the settings. This worked fine in all InDesign versions up to CS6.

Thinking re-creating the print presets from scratch might solve this problem, I deleted all my old print presets, but the printer still does not change with the preset setting, even though the preset is set up correctly. Does anyone else who uses multiple printers know what I'm experiencing or have a fix for this? Thank you.

Hmmm I've just tested it in my version of InDesign CC (2018), on Mac OS Sierra (10.12.6), and it works OK it seems, swapping presets auto selects the printer I assigned when creating the preset. What version of the Mac OS are you using?

I'd probably try to clear the InDesign preferences (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/using/setting-preferences.html), and delete the old print presets once more, and try setting them up using:

    • File > Print Presets > Define, and see if that makes a difference? (that's how I tested it).

I'm using Mac OS X Sierra. Will try your solution when time permits. Thank you!
