Printing blank pages

When printing from one particular document I am only having blank pages come through the printer, I have tried three different pages with the same result.

Meanwhile, I can print properly from other documents.

Any thoughts?

Fro printing directly with ID, I gave up a while ago -- but I'll try again today. There has been several new ID updates and possibly one HP printer update.

UPDATE : InDesign now works to print to an HP Color Laser 4201.

Thanks for tagging me so that I saw the latest posting and could verify.

So ... who knows why it is now working, but there have been multiple ID udpates since I last tried.

To be clear, this was probably an Adobe bug all along. I changed NO SETTINGS and successfully printed three different ID docs. No more blanks or using PDFs.

I'm getting the same problem now!

I have even started a new ID file, drew a square, and printed that.

Nothing by blank pages from ID.

I can export to PDF, and then Acrobat will print it just fine.

The printer (HP Color Laser 4201) will print from all other apps.

Any new suggestions?

The key issue from the older thread seems to be this: content on a document layer that is not then enabled for printing.

I'd check the Print menu to make sure Options | Print Layers is set to "Visible and Printable Layers" if not "All Layers," and that all layers are toggled Visible in the Layers pane. Since I assume you have only one layer, check its Options in the Layer list to make sure "Print Layer" is checked.

Two things to try since it seems to be isolated to one file:

First, try an export to .idml. Open thast and save as a new .indd file. DO NOT Overwrite the existing file.

Second, if that is not successfull, select all the pages in the Pages in the Pages Panel, then, from the panel flyout menu select Move pages and move them to a new blank document (remove the extra blank page from the new file after moving). Save as a new .indd file. Again, don't overwrite the old file.

Print layer appears to be checked for everything.
However, if I create a pdf it gets weird. INDD says it is created and if
I try to re-save it the app wants to know if I want to replace the old file.
However again, if I try to open it in Adobe Acrobat or Reader "No match."
Microsoft Explorer doesn't show it, but the "Recent files" shows it just
fine.
I even re-booted and saved it to a different location in case it was in a
bad sector, or something. No luck.
This is crazy.

Are you having the same problem with any other documents? If it is just this document then try exporting the file as an IDML file (File>Export>InDesign Markup (IDML)) and then opening the IDML in your version of InDesign. Then save the document as a regular InDesign file. This process can remove some corruption from a file. Hopefully, that will fix the issue.

Double-click on all layers in the document's Layers Panel and make sure that "Print Layer" is checked in all cases. You will have to do this page by page.

Also, just in case your content has been set to "non-printing" in the Attributes Panel, make sure that the option to "Print Non-printing Objects" is checked in the Print dialog window.
