In addition to James' suggestions: what versions of InDesign and operating system are you using?

Thanks for asking.

Not sure of the iD version. I have a Windows 10 operating system.

I also discovered that I cannot print from Ai.

Check your Creative Cloud app and update InDesign if there are any updates, then report your current version. (If you need to upgrade to a new major version, e.g. 2023 to 2024, I recommend not removing your existing version, for which there's a checkbox in upgrade options.)

This has been reported by more than one HP user recently. Search the topics here, or specify your new printer model.

My new printer is an HP 3301 fdw. I have no problems with printing from this new printer except when I attempt to print from In Design.  The printer prints but each page is blank.

This specific fault has been reported several times, with different HP models, in the last few months. I don't think there's any good solution; it's some mismatch between InDesign and the current HP drivers.

The only workaround is to export to PDF and print from that. Not too clumsy, but a bit of an irritating detour, yes.
