My Indesign says 'you need  a plugin for importing a jpeg file.

However I don't know where I can find it.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Vincent,

You do not need a plug-in for a jpeg file. You choose File > Place and select the jpeg.

Did you create the jpeg yourself? Your title says you are having trouble importing a Photoshop file, which is a .psd, and in the body it says .jpeg. If you did, what was your procedure to create the jpeg? Can you create a new jpeg? If you got it from somewhere else, where did you get it from?

What happens when you place other jpegs? Do they get the same error message or is it only this one that is having issues?

Don’t “Open” but “Place”!

If I do this, the quality isn't optimal, I have tried improving it by pressing: ctrl + alt + h. It helps a bit, but it still isn't as it is in the original file.

What version of InDesign and what operating system are you using? What process were you using to import your jpeg?

Assuming you've created an InDesign document: File > Place
