Hey,
I have an ongoing problem with indesign. When I set footnotes, the software freezes up. I always have to force quit it. I have a macbook pro, everything installed, everything updated... can you help me?

Tell us more about your system: Please tell us what operating system (exactly) you're running. Please tell us (exactly) what InDesign version you're using

Is this happening in one file or in every file you try it in?

Is this with one document (or set of docs), or all docs, including brand new ones set up to test?

If it's one doc or a few, try purging them of corrupted elements by saving to IDML, then opening and saving as INDD under a new name.

If it's all docs, all the time, you might have corrupted preferenceds. Clear your ID prefs. The details vary slightly with platform and version, but a quick search here or in general should bring them up for your system.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
