Question

Problem with object style and corner options

Hi. I want a curved corner radius on the top right and bottom left, nothing massive, 7mm

I want the text inset 22pts from the left edge.

If I have no curved radius, I can have the 22pts offset. If I have the curved radius, the 22pt is overridden and text returns to the left edge. I have tried adjusting text offsets, changing all corners to 7pt and it will not budge.

I really want that 22pt offset on the left edge, and I want curved corners top left and bottom right, why can I not have this?

Cheers

The only work-around I can think of is to use two frames: a rounded-corner rectangle and a regular text frame that you cut and paste into (Edit > Paste Into) the rounded-corner rectangle. It's more steps, but it would do what you want.

Ok thanks.

Crazy this needs to be a feature request in 2023 lol.

Ah. You would like different values on the various sides? InDesign allows us to specify the insets on each of the four sides when you have a right-angle rectangle. Once we convert a corner, we are only offered one value for all four sides, like an ellipse. You can file a feature request here: https://indesign.uservoice.com/.

Hi @garethirwin1234:

Here's what I'm getting when I use those values:

What is your result?

Hi well if thats you result then its similar to mine.

I want a 22pt offset from the left side only, the others at 5pt.

My radius is top left and bottom right.

With a curved radius applied, the offset is overridden with seemingly no way to fix it.
