problema di corruzione file e rallentamenti dopo aggiornamento InDesign 21.3

Ciao a tutti,

dopo l’aggiornamento a Adobe InDesign sto riscontrando problemi molto gravi di stabilità e corruzione file su macOS Sequoia 15.7.4.

Problemi riscontrati:

reset preferenze; downgrade; verifica file. Senza risultati definitivi.

    Hi @Nello5F9C

    Just following up to check whether the issue has improved after trying the suggestions shared by the experts.

    Could you please let us know if you are still experiencing the crashes, slowdowns, and file corruption issues, or if the behavior has changed after those tests? Based on your update, we can continue assisting you further accordingly.

    Looking forward to your update.

    Hi Abhishek,

    thank you for following up and for the support provided by the community.

    I have checked several of the suggested points and, at the moment, I have not found any obvious anomalies related to system requirements, updates, or the general configuration of the machine. However, the issue still occurs intermittently.

    As a temporary workaround, I have started creating systematic backup copies of the files at regular intervals in order to minimize potential data loss in case of crashes or document corruption.

    I also tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign, but unfortunately this did not lead to any substantial improvement.

    Due to lack of time, I have not yet been able to test all the suggestions provided by leo.r, including the clean user account test. However, I am continuing to investigate the issue by progressively excluding possible causes such as:

    • corrupted cache and preferences
    • fonts
    • plugins or extensions
    • GPU-related issues
    • synchronization or storage environments

    At the moment, the most concerning aspect remains the occasional corruption of documents after crashes, with loss of graphics and text elements associated with specific layers.

    In Illustrator, I am also still experiencing significant slowdowns, especially during file visualization and saving operations.

    Thank you again for the time and attention dedicated to this issue. I will continue monitoring the situation and keep the community updated if any additional useful information or significant developments emerge. I also hope that future updates will improve the overall stability of the software.

    Hi @Nello5F9C,

    Thanks again for the detailed update and for continuing to investigate this so thoroughly. Since the issue is still occurring across both InDesign and Illustrator, could you please try temporarily disabling GPU Performance in both applications from Preferences and check whether the crashes, freezes, or missing layer content behavior improves?

    Also, when the crash occurs, do you see the Adobe Crash Reporter window appearing? If yes, please submit the report and share the email address used for submission with me via DM so I can help check the logs further. You can refer to this article for details:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html

    Additionally, please try disabling the Generative AI related options in InDesign Preferences and observe whether the behavior changes afterward.

    It would also be helpful if you could test the issue in macOS Safe Mode to help isolate any possible background software or third-party interference affecting the applications. You can refer to:
    https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/mh21245/mac

    Please keep us updated with your observations so we can continue narrowing this down further.

    Abhishek

    Post this in the InDesign forum (you may need to change the title slightly to avoid a duplicate post error):

    (and no, the problems you experience are not common)

    Hello everyone,

    after updating to Adobe InDesign, I have been experiencing very serious stability and file corruption issues on macOS Sequoia 15.7.4.

    System configuration:

    • iMac Pro
    • Intel Xeon W 8-core 3.2 GHz
    • Radeon Pro Vega 56 8 GB
    • 32 GB RAM

    Issues encountered:

    • significant overall slowdowns;
    • freezes during file saving and PDF export;
    • unexpected crashes requiring forced restart of the application;
    • loss of content after reopening files.

    The most critical issue is file corruption: after certain crashes, when reopening the document, entire graphics and text contents associated with specific layers disappear. At first, I assumed it was related to isolated corrupted files, but the issue has repeatedly occurred across multiple documents, including newly created files.

    In some cases, I had to manually reinsert an entire language section within 150-page product catalogs translated into 7 languages.

    The issue occurs regardless of whether the files are stored locally, on cloud storage, servers, or NAS systems.

    I have already tried:

    • resetting preferences;
    • downgrading the software version;
    • checking and rebuilding affected files.

    Unfortunately, none of these actions provided a stable solution.

    In addition, I am also experiencing severe slowdowns with Adobe Illustrator, particularly during editing, screen rendering, and file saving operations.

    Is anyone else experiencing similar issues with the latest Adobe versions on macOS Sequoia?
    Have you found any reliable workaround or solution to prevent file corruption?

    Normally, none of the problems you describe should happen.

    First, make sure you’re running incremental backups at all times whether with Time Machine or other means (e.g. by working from Dropbox/Google Drive/OneDrive), so that you don’t have to redo your files manually after corruption.

    Also, try to create a new user account in System Settings > Users & Groups and work from there — will it make a difference?
