Publish Online - embedded video in MSO overlay keeps playing

I have a MSO where one of the states is an overlay that contains an embedded YouTube video and also contains a close button (see link below). If you play the Youtube video and close the overlay, the video keeps playing (you can hear the sound).

I know that if I import the video into my InDesign project that I can control the video with a button, but I'm concerned about bloating the overall project since I'll have several videos. Is there any way for a button to control an embedded video from YouTube?

See link below:

  1. click ugly Video button/square to see overlay
  2. play YouTube video
  3. click the close button within overlay in the upper right corner
  4. listen for the voice over

Thanks much!

Correct answer jfink@emf

I spen a lont time looking into this same problem on a recent project but I could not find a solution

My understanding is that since the video files don't actually live inside your document, you can't control them with buttons. I ended up placing  videos on their own pages separate from the content and abandoning the lightbox method altogether.

Wish I could be more helpful!

Yep, you're correct. Thanks for responding.

What I ended up doing was a bit of smoke and mirrors: I created a "play" button that jumped to the next page which I designed to look like a video overlay with a close button. Then I made the close button go back to the original "play" button page - if that makes sense. It works well with the exception of the thumbnails at the bottom.
