Publish online - interior hyperlinks don't work with password protection

I have both exterior and interior hyperlinks in my document. Simple interior hyperlink such as, "see page 10" points to page 10.

Everything works beautifully both in the interactive pdf, and when I publish online to the Adobe server ... until I make a password protected version of the file. External links still work but interior hyperlinks have all gone screwy. Totally unfunctional.

I really need for the file to be protected. I'm guessing there's some sort of permissions issue ... when I open the file using the password I thought the links would continue to function normally. Am I missing something? Is this a known thing?

Hi @gd247,

Sorry to hear about the issue you're facing! Could you please share the following details to help us investigate this further?

1. The version of InDesign you're using.

2. The details of the operating system (Windows/Mac and version).

3. The published link where the issue occurs.

4. A sample of the original file (or a similar file demonstrating the issue).

Additionally, could you confirm if there is any issue with the interactive PDF when password-protected? Do the hyperlinks work fine in that format?

If the file is confidential, you can share it via DM on the community. Let us know, and we'll assist you further!

Best,
Abhishek Rao

Thank you for responding. Here are the details:

InDesign v 20.0.1

Mac, Monterey 12.7.6

Here are test files that demonstrate the issue:

Public/non password protected example with internal and external hyperlinks that work as intended:

https://indd.adobe.com/view/582409fb-8022-441d-9424-f0e875ef0ff6

Password protected example where the internal links do not work:

https://indd.adobe.com/view/f517d005-3a75-450c-93f0-e37452a321ad

There is no issue with a password-protected interactive PDF.  There is animation in the real file which is why I'd hoped to post it to the Adobe server.
