Question

QR Codes and Indesign

Can I see a running list of QR codes that I've made in Indesign via my Adobe account? We are about to launch a redesigned website and some of the QR codes link to and those links will be broken after the launch unfortunately. I'm wondering if there is a way to easily collect all the QR codes I've made in the past year in Indesign so that I can get them to redirect to the new website.

Thanks!

Not to the best of my knowledge, any more than you can, say, list all the styles or even docs you've created. The codes are create-and-forget, with (again, as far as I know) no separate log or record outside the document in which they are created.

I'm hazarding a guess that you think QR codes are "something more," with data and so forth stored in some common repository. They're not.  🙂

Thanks for the opinion. I assume nothing when it comes to Adobe. Well, I assume I know nothing, so that's something.  lol

Thanks again for the response.

There was nothing personally intended in my reply. There is a vast fog of information about QR codes out there, mostly fostered by entities trying to charge for free air, that they are the mysterious tip of a vast and complex dataweb system. They're not. They're an arrangement of pixels, either printed or on a screen, and nothing more.

My comment was meant in all good humor, and followed your implication that unlike every other element InDesign creates, are somehow stored or listed or saved somewhere special... you know, in that vast dataweb. 🙂 Again, they're not. They are no more special or supported outside the document they're created in than any graphic or illustration you might create with ID's tools. (I'm not even sure the INDD file retains any specific record of the contents other than the encoded graphic, which it can read back if needed, as for editing.)

I dislike the faction that has pumped them up to something more, in the name of unwonted profits, and tend to slightly overreact on the topic. I meant nothing snarkastic at you.
