Re: Exporting to pdf from inDesign - dotted lines don't print

I am having the same issue - when exporting to PDF, everything is there and looks fine.  When printing... the lines are there but have been changed to a solid line in most places.  I say most because on one table, one of the lines are the dots and the rest have been changed to a solid line.

    Hi All

I managed to fix the problem by printing the file as an image (Bitmap) straight from InDesign under the Print > Advanced menu.

    Hopefully this helps someone else!

I say most because on one table, one of the lines are the dots and the rest have been changed to a solid line.

What is the thickness and color of the dotted line? If the dotted line is too thin and isn't black it would be possible that the printer doesn't have enough resolution to resolve the dots. If the line is a color the printer's screening might interfere.

The line is 2pt but with a tint of 20% black.
I was able to finally print it as a bitmap which worked, see below.

    Hi Cally,

We are very sorry that you ran into this issue. Please create a same dotted line on a new document and then try to print it.

If it prints fine then move the pages to the new document.

    Looking forward to your response!

    Regards,
