Unfortunately CS4 is now almost 10 years old. Many of the elements that make up High Sierra hadn't even been created when CS4 came out. An operating system should never be updated without checking first whether your existing programs are compatible with the new OS. Reverting an OS on a Mac is not an easy task. Your best option is to get a subscription to Creative Cloud.

InDesign CS4 to InDesign CS6 is not supported by Adobe running under El Capitan or later. You need to ether revert your OS or upgrade to InDesign CC2017/2018
