Re: Page content suddenly gone

I am having a similar problem. Some of the content is all of a sudden not showing any more. On some pages I can still see the white background (see pictures) but on others I don't see the white background at all.

If I copy one of the text frames that seems to have no content to another page, the text appears. A possible workaround is to create new pages and copy paste the content. However I am trying to solve this in another way as I am missing around 40 pages.

I have already restarted the machine and closed all other application but that didn't seem to work.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I assume you could select a text frame and see all its text in the Story Editor? (Edit > Edit in Story Editor). That will help you diagnose if the problem is formatting-related, since Story Editor shows text with minimal formatting.

There you can see which styles have been applied, which can be useful.

My first guess, without knowing the previous posts, is that some text is formatted with a Keeps setting that tells InDesign to Start Paragraph On Next Odd Page (or Even Page). To test, select all the text, apply the Basic paragraph style (which doesn't have this Keeps option), and see if the text appears.

    Hi Anne-Marie,

I think it's a different issue at all. We had something similar with Nathalie today:

problem of disappearing under a gray mask interface of the content of the pages under indesign

My assumption is, that the page contents is behind the page and positioned on the pasteboard.

Or the pasteboard is stacked above the page with its contents?

Don't ask me how this can happen…

    What I would try:
Export the document to IDML, open the IDML and work on with that.

    Regards,
    Uwe

Someone branched your message from another discussion. Can you explain your issue in full in this new thread please?
