Re: Shift Key Won't Constrain Proportions

I'm having the same issue with InDesign 2018. I don't want to create new items but resize grouped items together, and no matter what order I hold down or release the shift key, it's not working. I went to transform and resized the whole group but it's more of a guessing game that way.

A common reason that people can't use modifier keys (Shift, Space Bar, Option/Alt) is that there is software on your computer which blocks modifier keys. Commonly there are applications or browser extensions like password managers or anti-virus software.

To test for this, reboot your computer. Launch InDesign first. If necessary, block automatically launched applications. Before launching another application (for example, your browser) test whether the Shift key is still not working. If it works now, test carefully as you launch other software to see if the Shift key is not working. This will help you figure out what the problem software is.

I do encounter times when the spacebar shortcut doesn't work. Usually quitting all opened internet browsers does the trick.

Another thing to check is the input language menu. Set it to U.S. and test as other input methods may have reduced functionality.
