Received files in InDesign - any way to open them?

I recently received a set of files from a client who is now on vacation that are in indesign (.indd) format.

Is there any way I can open them and edit them without buying the full version of Indesign? Usually I'd have no problem buying any software, but I feel this will be the only time I will use it.

I heard there was a trial version that we might be able to use but I'm not sure what the limitations of it are?

Any help would be appreciated.

The Adobe applications are subscription and are under the umbrella of "Creative Cloud". Here is the info for downloading. If you need InDesign for longer than seven days, then subscribe for a month. I have heard that you can get a refund on that month if you do it within two weeks, but don't have that confirmed.

In addition to the trial you can subscribe on a month to month basis.

You can download and install free trial from Adobe. Afaik, it works for 7 days. Just google 'download indesign'.
