Red lines appear in the PDF once it has been exported.

Hi everyone, when I export an INDD file to PDF, red lines appear. It looks like InDesign is cutting the background image into lots of little squares during export because when I open the PDF (With Adobe PDF pro), I can select these little boxes and even delete them. Does anyone know how to avoid this? It's for a CMYK export.
