Question

redundant words generated when importing text in Word doc

I imported text from a Word doc in InDesign, and there are several instances on each page that displays some words, characters twice redundantly, or removed a space between words. What' causing this, and how can I prevent it? My 700 page book is too long to correct manually.

One more thing - if it's a docx file try saving it as a plain .doc file.

Hi @rschlegel

Please check if comments are there in your word file and did you accept or reject the changes

  1. Click or tap at the beginning of the document.
  2. On the Review tab, go to Changes.
  3. Select Accept or Reject. As you accept or reject changes, Word will move to the next change.
  4. Repeat until you've reviewed all changes in your document.

If all changes are accepted then delete all comments

  1. Select a comment.
  2. On the Review tab, go to Comments.
  3. In the Delete drop-down list, select Delete All Comments in Document.

I can think of a few possibilities, but the place I would start would be in Word, using the Find Next Tracked Change button; I cannot remember the exact name. But the errors you describe certainly sound like unaccepted changes in Word. If you click on that button, does Word reassure you that there are no tracked changes in the document?
