Reocurring InDesign issue

While working with images, InDesign displays a continuous blue spinning indicator. Image frames cannot be resized reliably, numeric dimension changes stop responding, and InDesign eventually freezes and must be closed through Task Manager.

Troubleshooting completed
Rebuilt and fully updated Windows 11 -- Dell Precision 5570 running Windows 11
Installed current Dell-supported drivers.
Installed the Dell NVIDIA RTX A2000 8 GB driver.
Reinstalled Creative Cloud, InDesign, and all required Adobe applications.
Confirmed the issue persists after the rebuild and reinstall.

Could I please confirm:

  • Whether this is a current known InDesign issue.
  • Which versions are affected.
  • Whether a fix or supported workaround is available.
  • Whether InDesign is expected to invoke cmd.exe.
  • Which logs or diagnostic files should be collected.

In addition to other suggestions: disable Generative AI options in preferences; they're known to cause the problem you describe.

Does this happen on all documents? Doe it happen on a particular version of InDesign? Can you test this on another computer? Share your answers for these questions that may help to find the root cause for your issue
