good morning.

when I paginate similar document I usually duplcate the file, correct/change text and image as needed.

I paginate document-A (text, cross-reference, image), duplicate it, and start to paginate document-B.

Document-B contain cross-references that seems correct but point to the document-A.

How can I find the incorrect cross-reference?
I mean how can i notice that a reference points to the wrong document?

thx

good morning Willi and thx for reply.

effectively I've splitted each manual in 4 indd document. when I duplicate the manual I find the problem of my post. I notice in cross-ref tab there is a tooltip that show me the document related in cross reference.

I found usueful to split manual in document, one for each chapter... but this cross-ref issue suggest me to return to one doc only...  😞

Normally, when a cross reference is targeted to the very same document, there should be no problem.

How have you done the cross references? I would suggest to a specific paragraph with a dedicated paragraph style.

Another way could be an anchor.

If you have only open one document you should not see any cross reference to another document working. If it is targeting there you see in the cross reference panel a red flag and those you should correct.
