Yesterday my work was fine. Today when I opened it, some of the Return characters has been changed to Word Space characters.
No updates yesterday or today.
InDesign version 18.5
MacOS Ventura 13.5.2

I alreay tried if trashing Defaults and SavedData would help. It didn't.

Hi @Leena Kanerva ,

do you have a backup of the document from yesterday through perhaps TimeMachine?

Is the text placed and linked perhaps and the source changed?

Also: Please do the check that Robert suggested.

Select the last character before the white space and also the first character after the white space so that we can see if an invisible character is perhaps between the two words. The Unicode codepoints of all the characters of your selection will show up in the Info panel. Also characters that have no horizontal space and are not showing up in the Story Editor window.

Text in not linked to anything.
Previous backup copy is okay, and it does not mention any font problems when I open it.
When I open this newer document I get notice of fonts missing. It is really strange because I haven't used those 3 fonts!

Hi @Leena Kanerva ,

your first screenshot is really showing a blank character in between, nothing special. Unicode code point is 0020 which is the right one for this simple character. So something bad happened to your document either the last time you saved it or while you opened it today. Cannot tell what happened. Also your font issues are not the norm. Sorry, but I have to ask this: Are you sure this is exactly the same document? The one you opened today and the one from yesterday?

I'm very much stumped now…

Can you highlight this "space" and then press F8 and post screenshot of the Info Panel?

It's not an Info Panel - there would be an info about the UNICODE value of the character - but it looks like it's just a space?
