Question

    Hi @smithdesign77

Thank you for taking the time to share the detailed reproduction steps. I understand how important this functionality is, and I can see how comments without a clear reference to the selected text can make the review workflow difficult, especially in documents with repeated content.

At the moment, this functionality is not available. Would you mind creating a UserVoice for this feature request here: https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601021-adobe-indesign-feature-requests? Doing so will help our Product Team prioritize the request, and you'll be notified of any updates.

Once you've created the UserVoice, please share the link in this thread so that other community members can upvote it as well.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further assistance, we'd be happy to help.

So, you say that if I just filed that problem with a third party service (instead here), Adobe developers would take the matter more serious and perhaps fix it – while in February 2023 (so over three years ago) a person named Cally posted at the mentioned service this very problem?

For example: They can leave a regular comment just fine, however, I have no idea where in the text the change should be because they don't highlight the text first then click the tool needed. It's a simple step for people who are familiar with these reviews but some people that have never used it before, it is a nightmare for us designers to go back and forth on where the fix is.

Please excuse me for being skeptical now and currently not wanting to invest my time to post nothing … but the quite same text.

This even dates from 2021 and had quite that problem already:
    https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/42722741-share-for-review-highlight-and-strike-through

    This is from August 2022:
    https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/45632458-share-for-review-comments-are-unmapped

So, after seeing all of this, I compute this is not a missing-knowledge issue.

However, I do really thank you for answering on my post! Now I can safely think that Adobe is well aware of the problem and I will solve that matter by myself through a YouTube Tutorial I send it to the stakeholders first, before sending the actual review link.

    Thank you!
