You cannot rotate a character in a paragraph, only simulate the italic with an inclination (from -85° to +85°).

I have found another interesting method to do applicate the rotation for characters in Indesign:

Hi @aniri5j9ox8tw2ln ,

thank you for pointing us to that solution where importing a character style with text rotation from Illustrator to InDesign with CC Libraries does the job for InDesign!

Did you test that with InDesign 2022 and Illustrator 2022?

First I had no success if only property Character Rotation was stored with the character style and loaded to an InDesign document:

It needed a second property apart from Character Rotation, e.g. a fill color stored with the character style, that finally the character is showing up as rotated:

Hi @oolongmi ,

this should only be possible when one of the two Japanese paragraph composers are applied to the text.

From the GUI only available if you use the CJK ( Chinese, Japanese, Korean ) version of InDesign.

With scripting ExtendScript (JavaScript) this can be done in all other versions as well. But the basic thing is, your text must use one of the two Japanese paragraph composers.
