Run x2 versions of indesign (M1 mac)

I had to downgrade my version of inDesign to 18.5 (and run in Rosetta) to run a pluggin supplied by my Client. Now that is installed can I download the lastest version 20.0 and run both version on my Mac (M1)?

 

Any help welcome 🙂

Yes, you can run multiple versions of InDesign on your Mac, including version 18.5 (running in Rosetta) and the latest version, 20.0. To assist you further, could you please confirm:

  • The version of macOS you’re using (e.g., Ventura 13.x, Sonoma 14.x).

Have you already tried downloading the 2025 version (20.0)? If so, was it through the Creative Cloud desktop app? If there was an issue or error while downloading, could you share the details?

Here’s how to download the latest version if you haven’t tried yet:

1. Open the Creative Cloud desktop app.

2. Go to the Apps section.

3. Search for "InDesign" and click on Install next to the latest version.

 

Make sure your system meets the requirements for the latest version: InDesign System Requirements.

Thanks for your help!

I am running Sonoma 14.6.1

 

I had v20.0 then i had to uninstall and get v 18.5 (which is not availble in CC anymore form my client - as they have a pluggin I have to use for work flow that works with 18.5).

 

Now I don't want to overright 18.5 with 20 as I need both, so can that still be done through CC app?

When you install v20 make sure that the option "Remove old versions" is unchecked during the installation. It would also be a good idea to keep "Import previous preferences and settings" unchecked as well. New installations will work better with clean preferences.
