Running Header Problem

Question

I've created a multi-section 350-page book in InDesign. One section has mutliple sub-sections in it, and the running header (set up as a text variable on a parent page) is giving me problems on one single page. I use the section heading paragraph style to populate the text of the running header, and I've set up a character style called running header so that I can choose how much of the section heading text to include in the running header. My problem is that in this one subsection, "Resumes", page one's running header simply says "Resume", but all other pages correctly have the running header of "Resumes". I've checked that all letters of "Resumes" are correctly styled. I'm baffled. Any suggestions? Thank you!

I've had this happen before. And sometimes it involved resetting the page by deleting the text frame. Delete the page. Insert a new page in the right place. Recreate the text frame, and rethread the story.

Another fix was to export to IDML open that and see if it's fixed then resave as a new file.

Another option is if you go the lightening bolt in the top right, that's quick apply - you can press CMD Enter either to bring it up.

Then type in Recompose and find something like Recompose All Stories - see if that fixes it.
