Same font but different names on different systems

We're having issues with fonts and working on InDesign files on multiple systems.  We've installed the same font on multiple machines but for some reason during install the system named them slightly differently, even though we use the same adobe font package to install.  Now when we try to work on documents we get the 'missing font' dialog and have to remap the fonts even though they are the same.  There doesn't seem to be a way to rename the font in the system (windows 10).  is there a way to make permanent substitutions/mappings of fonts so that we don't get asked every time? or is there a better solution to our problem?
