Saving .indd file after pdf export

Hi all,

I have noticed that if I open a .indd file, then export to pdf without changing any parameters in the export dialog, InDesign then asks me to save the file when I close, even though I have made no changes. I find this confusing. Is this normal behaviour?

Regards,

Steve

If you've made no changes you can close without saving -- just say no when prompted.

Yeah 😉 but it's just unnecessary step 😞

The same as when you export from Photoshop to PNG - it changes all spaces to "-" 😞

I think that's because it's presumed you want to use the PNG on the web and spaces aren't allowed in a URL

Did you change the name of the PDF? Did you choose a new destination?

It doesn't matter if you change anything or not during the export - even if you just export PDF to the same folder by hitting ENTER few times - InDesign mark INDD file as changed / "outdated".

Yes, it's "normal".
