Question

Sections break page numbering

Hi! I have a large document and wanted to create an automated way to insert the title of my sections within the document in every page’s top right corner: in this example, we have the section “group 1B” and “group 1C”.

But by adding sections, my total page number is messed up, indesign seems to only count up to the next section created. To go around this, I’m adding my total page number in the master page instead of leaving it as the variable Last page number.

Still, I wanted to know if there’s a better way to do this…

Thanks!

@taina.pio

You are right - InDesign is pulling last page from the current Section - not the last page of the document...

Section Marker

CurrenntPage Marker

LastPage Marker

Hi @taina.pio:

Like @leo.r, I'd also like to see how you have Numbering & Section Options set up. I start sections regularly, but use continuous numbering that increments between all of the sections.

yeah, I'm using the automatic numbering too! I haven't changed anything in those options except for adding the section marker.
here's the screenshot for you and @leo.r
