Question

Selected text does not highlight

If I uncheck View:Show Hidden Spreads my selected text doesn't highlight. I can't tell what I selected.

When I turn on View:Show Hidden Spreads again, it works fine.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Hi All,

Apologies for the delayed response! It seems many of you are experiencing similar issues. To investigate further and replicate the issue on my end, I’d need a few details:

  • Did this start occurring with the recent 20.0.1 release?
  • Can you share a short video demonstrating the issue? You can upload it to a network drive like Creative Cloud or Dropbox and share the download link.
  • Are you able to replicate this behavior in a new file?

We’re here to assist—just need a bit more information!

Regards,

Srishti

I'm having the same problem. I hadn't connected it to the existence of hidden spreads in my document, but your observation gives me an (imperfect) temporary solution.

This does seem to be a bug in InDesign.

Do you have Magnet installed? If so, uninstall it.

I have never used Magnet, so that's not it for me.

Hi @powzam,

This behavior might be related to a display setting or a minor glitch in InDesign. Could you share the following details to help pinpoint the issue?

  1. Your InDesign version.
  2. Your operating system details (e.g., Windows 11, macOS Ventura).

Meanwhile, try these steps:

  1. Reset your InDesign preferences (press Ctrl+Alt+Shift or Cmd+Option+Shift when launching InDesign). Reference: https://adobe.ly/4fTVH3S
  2. Check if the issue persists with a new document or only specific files.
  3. Ensure your graphics drivers and InDesign are updated to the latest version.

Let me know if this helps!

Thanks,

Abhishek Rao
