Selection and Free Transform cursor icons mixed up

A few days ago, I started noticing a little stitchy-looking box next to my Selection tool. This turns out to be the icon for the Free Transform tool (which I've never used in InDesign). It appears the two tools' icons are suddenly reversed. When I choose the Selection tool, it has the correct icon—a black arrow—until I click on an object, then it changes into the Free Transform icon. It still functions as a Selection tool, it just has the wrong icon. And vice versa when choosing and using Free Transform.

Has anyone else had this happen? How do I fix it?

Thanks.

I wrote about this new icon on InDesignSecrets.com. It was introduced with the 14.0.3 update. It make it clearer that the object you're moving is selected, is unlocked, and you can move it:

Hi Rob:

No, this is a new one! Sounds like time to rebuild your preferences and or cache. See https://www.rockymountaintraining.com/adobe-indesign-rebuilding-preferences-cache/.

Let us know if that takes care of it.
